Weekend Roundup 10/3-4

There was a surprising level of inactivity this weekend for the Korean Players in Europe – injuries to Son, Hong JH and Kim JS’s relegation to the bench… there wasn’t much going on as the only players who started were Koo, Ki, and Suk. To be honest the biggest news was the K League – there was some serious drama on the top-bottom split day that Jae covered for us very nicely in his recent post! Welcome back Jae!

Regarding Kim Jin Su – once again Jeremy Toljan stole the starting LB spot, but he actually didn’t play very well vs. Stuttgart, and although the chances are low, I wouldn’t be TOO surprised if KJS gets back into the starting lineup.

Regarding Hong Jeong Ho – the reason why he got playing time is actually because the normal defensive midfielder Baier got injured. So, there’s actually a very high chance Hong Jeong Ho will end up playing defensive mid next week – or maybe he’ll go back to CB and either another midfielder or Klavan / JCB will slot into the DM slot.

Regarding Son and Lee, they probably will feature again after the international break, as neither of their injuries are very severe. Now the question is Lee CY can start playing for the league again outside of just cup competitions, but that is, of course, a big if.

Also, news regarding Hwang Hee Chan – after scoring a brace he is on 6 goals and about as many assists in 11 games. He is currently on duty with the U23 National Team at only 19 years old, though I doubt he’ll make the full 2016 Olympic squad considering the strikers already there like Cho Suk Jae and Kim Hyun.
