9/23: Midweek Roundup: Dortmund winning streak ends [update]

A bit of disappointment from our Korean footballers abroad but also some things to take note of. A quasi North London derby (does League Cup count?) ended in a win for Arsenal and Dortmund’s winning streak ended with a draw against Hoffenheim. A remarkable thing happened despite Augsburg losing: three Koreans at Augsburg started against M’gladbach, with Ji Dong-Won and Koo Ja-Cheol both making impact by earning separate penalties. . In Korea, Seongnam record their first win against FC Seoul since 2003.

Tavern Owner updating: A first in KPA history in Europe, 3 Koreans started for the same squad. Visiting M’Gladbach, Augsburg unfortunately fell behind 4-0 by halftime, but started clawing back in the 2nd half. First Ji Dong-Won in the 50th minute, then Koo Ja-Cheol in the 74th both drew penalty kicks, both taken by their captain, Paul Verhaegh.  It wasn’t enough to complete a comeback. Outside of the result, an interesting situation with Augsburg’s starting XI squad comprised over 25% Korean.
