Mini Previews

Suwon vs Jeonbuk

This used to have some shine to it, then Jeonbuk went and won the title a couple weeks ago. Now it’s just a pride match as Suwon also has nothing to play for since Pohang cannot catch them for second place.

Ulsan vs Jeju

A must win for Jeju if they have any hopes of qualifying for the AFC Champions League next season. They’re six points behind Pohang for third, so their hopes are slim at best. Ulsan is playing for pride as well, and possibly Kim Min-kook’s job. An Ulsan win would see them jump Jeju up to 5th in the table, which may make the disappointing season a little less so.

Seoul vs Pohang

(*To be made up next Wednesday*) Will this game mean anything? Depends on what happens the KFA Cup final on Sunday. If Seoul wins the cup, then they won’t need to finish third in the table to qualify for Asia. But, if they don’t beat Seongnam they’ll need to close the three point gap on Pohang, which a win over the Steelers would accomplish (Seoul has a slight goal difference advantage).

Gyeongnam vs Busan

A potentially big game for both. A draw would guarantee safety for Busan while a win for Gyeongnam could pull them further away from the relegation spots.

TV: MBC Gyeongnam
Stream: Naver, Afreeca

Jeonnam vs Sangju

Jeonnam has largely been asleep at the wheel since the split given they were already completely safe. Sangju has a slim hope of avoiding the quick return to the Challenge, but it’ll be difficult.

TV: Yeosu MBC
Stream: Naver, Afreeca

Incheon vs Seongnam

(*To be made up next Wednesday*) Incheon needs a win to guarantee their safety while Seongnam is very much in the relegation mix. This would could be a tricky thing for Seongnam depending on how Sunday goes. If they win, could they experience a hangover from it? If they lose, can they pick themselves up?

TV: TBA

K League Challenge Playoff Round 1

Gangwon FC vs Gwangju FC, Saturday 2pm KST

The first round of the playoffs. Gangwon was relegated last season in the playoffs (lost to Sangju), can they bounce back and be promoted through the same medium? Well see. They’ll run into another former Classic side in Gwangju, who squeaked in on the final round.

Stream: Naver, Daum, Afreeca

KFA Cup Final

FC Seoul vs Seongnam FC, Sunday 2:15pm KST

The KFA Cup final is here! It’s not quite a David vs Goliath match, but Seoul comes in as pretty heavy favorites. Seoul has slight edge in the season series (2-1-0), but Seongnam have shown they can spring upsets. If Seongnam wins, they could be in that odd situation where they’re playing in Asia, but also in the Korean 2nd division.

    • Jae gave a long hard look at the forum idea pre-World Cup, and I think
in the end, it was a no-go. Not that we didn’t want to do one, but that there was an issue with lag and whatnot.

It’s something I’m still hoping personally could happen, but I don’t know WordPress enough to take the initiative.

  1. I’ll donate if it means that we can move over to a site that can support a forum. I’m sure a lot of posters will migrate over just so they can get away from nazis like 12warrior and gayageum.
