K League Quiniela – Round 7

Another round, another poor showing at the quiniela. I might not be getting much right, but at least I’m helping reduce the odds for others to get it right. Missed the midweek round 6 (probably for the best if we’re honest), but we’re back for round 7. Nothing clever this time, just gut reactions and home team favoring!

1. Ulsan Hyundai vs FC Seoul (Saturday, April 14, 2PM, Ulsan Munsu Stadium): 1

Seoul finally notched their first win of the season midweek against Pohang, but Ulsan seems to be finding some league form finally. Don’t think the capital boys can but together two back-to-back performances in a few days, so we’ll take the southeast side to take it.

2. Suwon Samsung vs Sangju Sangmu (Saturday, April 14, 2PM, Suwon World Cup Stadium: X

Suwon notched a solid away win midweek over Gangwon, but like their rivals Seoul they’ve really struggled for consistency. The army boys have been hit-or-miss, but they keep the score down (at both ends). This one reeks of a stale 0-0 draw to me.

3. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors vs Jeonnam Dragons (Saturday, April 14, 4PM, Jeonju World Cup Stadium): 1

Every time this fixture pops up I think, “definitely a Jeonbuk win” and I’m not changing this time either (even though Jeonnam tend to run their northern neighbors closer than I think they will). Jeonbuk has notched two solid away wins over Pohang and Gyeongnam in the past week, so we’ll back them to keep the run going.

4. Jeju United vs Incheon United (Saturday, April 14, 4PM, Jeju World Cup Stadium): 1

Jeju boasts the league’s best defense – and also the league’s second lowest-scoring offense. Before the midweek 3-0 win over Jeonnam, Jeju had scored one measly goal in the league. Have they finally found their attacking stride or was that an oddity that won’t easily be repeated? I’ll hope it’s the former. Incheon has been better than thought, but considering most thought they were definite relegation material, that probably doesn’t say much. Jeju to notch a tight one in the rain on the island.

5. Daegu FC vs Gangwon FC (Sunday, April 15, 2PM, Daegu Stadium): 2

Gangwon is riding a three-match losing streak, but I’ll back them to break that against a struggling Daegu. The home side has managed just two goals thus far which is certainly not a good thing (stating the obvious). Gangwon matches tend to have goals (10 scored and 12 conceded), so we’ll figure some will go in here, but the figures favor more going into the Daegu goal.

6. Pohang Steelers vs Gyeongnam FC (Sunday, April 15, 4PM, Pohang Steelyard): X

Gyeongnam started hot, but have hit a couple bumps in the past week. Daegu held them to a draw and then they got thumped by Jeonbuk (although I heard they played better than the score suggests). Pohang also have had a rough week. They also lost to the current green-wearing league leaders, and then gave their former boss a lifeline by losing to Seoul. Not a whole lot between the sides, so I’ll figure honors even.
