Short update on the domestic scene in Korea, with 14 teams in action.
First, the K-League Classic.
Jeju 2-0 Jeonnam
Busan 0-2 Suwon BW
Seongnam 1-0 Gyeongnam
Incheon 0-0 Pohang
Seoul 2-1 Sangju
Ulsan 0-0 Jeonbuk
Jeju scored early and late to put the Dragons away in Seogwipo;
Busan were outmatched at home with Jong Tae-Se and Santos Junior getting the goals in this one;
Gyeongnam’s struggles continue with a road reverse to Seongnam;
Hwang Sun-Hong’s Pohang were unable to beat a last-place Incheon side, a point United will gladly take;
Seoul needed their foreign stars to overturn a deficit against the Army side;
Jeonbuk missed their chance to go top at the Munsu.
There was also a K-League Challenge game, to make up the games missed when Ansan was mourning the Sewol tragedy:
Ansan 1-2 Bucheon
Bucheon moved out of the basement with a surprise victory against the Police side.
Over to the KFA Cup now where Quarter-Final pairings have been drawn:
Busan hosts Seoul
Jeonbuk hosts Gangneung
Seongnam hosts Yeungnam U
Sangju hosts Gangwon
Jeonbuk and Seongnam should be expected to win their ties, Seoul know the importance of the tournament in their predicament so I’d expect a win, especially if Busan can’t turn around their horrendous form at the moment, and Sangju-Gangwon should be an Army win, but the K-League Challengers have a solid shot at a final four berth.

And of course a reminder that the K-League All-Star Game will be held today, 7am EDT, 8pm KST. The game is on KBS2 in Korea (if I’m not mistaken). As for streaming… Daum PotPlayer is showing they will air the game. If you live abroad – download it. The Korean version, not the English one. Not that I’m speaking from experience (bullsh!t). And remember – it’s geo-blocked. So take your pick of cough VPN’s cough.
