Midweek League Cup & European game listing

First off, do check out Jae’s recent posts, including a look at Hong Myong-Bo’s call-ups to the Taeguk Warriors for the September international friendlies (including a surprise omission to the lineup).

Meantime, we go to Korean Footballers Abroad, they’ve got the midweek listings – limited TV coverage here in the US – but an important Champions League tie as Park Ji-Sung will be on Fox Sports 1 channel (formerly Speed TV) on Wednesday for PSV’s 2nd leg with AC Milan – on aggregate points they are even.

Midweek Action

Capital One Cup

Lee Chung Yong and Bolton go to Tranmere on Tuesday at 2:45 PM.  No US TV (and probably no UK one).  I suspect LCY will be rested and only come on as a sub if goal needed.

Ji Dong Won and Sunderland host MK Dons on Tuesday at 2:45 PM.  No US TV (and probably no UK one).  Not sure if JDW will start but may get a chance if he’s not being rested for the weekend.

Yun Suk Young and QPR host Swindon Town on Tuesday at 2:45 PM.  No US TV (and probably no UK one).  Yun may get a chance to re-earn a look at first team LB.

Kim Bo Kyung and Cardiff go to Accrington Stanley on Wednesday at 2:45 PM.  I imagine KBK will get rested on the bench.

Champions League / Europa League

Park Ji Sung and PSV now go to AC Milan for Leg 2 of CL playoffs (1-1 agg).  Wednesday at 2:45 PM ET on Fox Sports 1.  PJS most likely to start.

Ki Sung Yueng and Swansea go to Petrolul Ploiesti for Leg 2 of EL playoffs (5-1 agg).  Thursday at 1:30 PM ET.  No US TV.  If Ki’s gone or about to go, I doubt he’d play but if he’s staying he could start.

    • Hasn’t been confirmed, and haven’t heard of any official bids, but Ki is clearly on the outs with Laudrup. Everton, Sunderland, and a few other clubs are (reportedly) interested. The window closes soon, so any move will need to come fast. Correction, reports are that the club is unwilling to sell, but may loan him out.

        • Ki is apparently interested in staying in England. Sunderland remains front runners. Everton is rumored to be interested, although Swansea says they have not been contracted. A Championship club is also supposed to be interested. Swansea chairman does not think Ki will go to Germany. Also, a French site has reported that St. Etienne is interested in Park Chu-Young.

          • Saint Etienne is considered as high-middle club in France. They usualy finished between 4-10 place every season. I think it might be a good rebound club for PCY as it will fit his play style and he does have good experience in the french ligue 1 imo

          • you know, I thought a while back that AS Monaco could pick PCY up – having an established relationship back in the day. Ligue 1 could be good for him to reboot
