Week listings and previews for our Korean Players Abroad 9-10

08042016 fifa rankigs

Week listings and previews for our Korean Players. April FIFA rankings are out, we are third in the AFC behind Iran and Australia. We moved up one rank from last month. Most of our Korean Players Abroad are struggling in their clubs these days. Only two of our KPA’s played full time last week. The rest were either subbed out early, benched, unused subs or excluded from the squad list. That aside, some great games are on this week, Swansea vs Chelsea, Schalke vs Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur’s vs Manchester United. What will you be watching this weekend? I will be tuning into the Revierderby this week.

Day Time (ET) Player Club Opponent
Saturday 9:30AM Koo Ja-Cheol Augsburg @Werder Bremen
Saturday 9:30AM Ji Dong-Won Augsburg @Werder Bremen
Saturday 9:30AM Hong Jeong-Ho Augsburg @Werder Bremen
Saturday 9:30AM Kim Jin-Su Hoffenheim @Frankfurt
Saturday 10:00AM Lee Chung-Yong Crystal Palace Norwich City
Saturday 10:00AM Ki Sung-Yueng Swansea City Chelsea
Sunday 9:30AM Park Joo-Ho Borussia Dortmund @Schalke
Sunday 11:00AM Son Heung-Min Tottenham Hotspur Manchester United
Sunday 1:15PM Suk Hyun-Jun Porto @Pacos Ferreira

Koo Ja-Cheol received his 5th yellow card last week against Mainz so he will be unavailable for the match against Werder Bremen this week.

Hong Jeong-Ho should start. This will be a tough game for him as both Augsburg and Werder Bremen are desperate to win. They are on the brink of relegation.

Ji Dong-Won is still injured but has now started some minor training. He should be back in 2-3 weeks.

I expect Kim Jin-Su to be benched this week.

This will be an important match for both Crystal Palace and Norwich City as both teams are on the brink of relegation. That said, I expect Lee Chung-Yong will be in the reserves this week.

With Ki Sung-Yueng’s declining form this season I expect him to either start or be benched this week against Chelsea. Big game for Swansea this week too. Hopefully Ki starts.

Revierderby is on this week, one of the best derbies in the Bundesliga Schalke vs Borussia Dortmund. I expect Dortmund to field their best players but as the Europa League was on yesterday maybe the coach will rotate some players. Park Joo-Ho should make bench this week.

Tottenham Hotspur’s were having double training sessions this week in preparation of Manchester United. I expect Son Heung-Min to either be benched or start against United. Hopefully, he impresses when called up.

I expect Suk Hyun-Jun to be on the reserves this week. He will probably be subbed on later in the game.
