Hoffenheim has being struggling a lot these days. They are still on only on one point. Hopefully they can grab all three points this week. I expect Kim Jin-Su to start.

Suk Hyun-Jun is in great form he scored a goal last week against Maritimo even though Vitoria Setubal lost 5-2. He should start.

Ki Sung-Yueng was on the bench last week as he just returned from international duty having clocked around 13,000 miles. He should start this week.

Apparently Yun Suk-Young is not ready to play yet and hasn’t regained his full fitness. I don’t think he will even make bench this week.

Son Heung-Min scored a brace in the Europa League this week. I expect him to start against Crystal Palace. Finally we can see a Korean derby in the EPL (kind of).

Lee Chung-Yong and Crystal Palace will face Tottenham Hotspur’s this week. Korean derby, but I expect Lee to be benched. Hopefully he will get subbed on later on. I can’t wait to see him and Sonny competing against each other.

Park Joo-Ho had an impressive Europa League debut with Borussia Dortmund. He provided an assist and the winning goal. I expect he will be benched for the game against Bayer Leverkusen.

I expect a bench appearance for Ryu Seung-Woo this week.

Hong Jeong-Ho, Ji Dong-Won and Koo Ja-Cheol will face Hannover this week. Hong Jeong-Ho was having a great season but unfortunately he sustained a thigh injury during a warm up session prior to the match against Bayern Munich. I don’t expect him to start or make a bench appearance.  Koo Ja-Cheol should start as he had a great game against Bayern Munich, he even provided an assist. I expect Ji to be on the bench for this match.

** the old Tavern owner interjecting: excellent post from Nicole here – I have to say I was yelling, running laps with the Taeguki flag flowing behind me in the hallways of the physical Tavern when news of all the goals in the Europa League started filtering in. Throwing my son in the air, unlike in 2012, is much more difficult now that he’s almost 7 years old. He was happy to be thrown, however, as it gave him a break from all his homework (yes, I am a task master – my first grader son will tell you).  By the way, it won’t make headlines but everyone at the Tavern should know, Ji was so super close to scoring for Augsburg today.  Only miraculous goalkeeping by Athletic Bilbao prevented Ji’s excellent shot from going in. Ji’s teammate Koo also gets kudos. Despite the loss, he had a good showing in substitution.

super match

On the side note, Super Match is on this week. One of the best derbies in the Kleague. Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs FC Seoul. Kick off Saturday 3:05pm Korean time. Must watch game.

  1. News like this is why I enjoy visiting this site. Goals were coming in slow from abroad these path couple months so this is really refreshing to see/read.
