Weekend Roundup + Other News + Should KSY/LCY/Suk HJ Transfer?

On the final weekend of most European Leagues we yet again saw very little action. Here’s a review of some stuff that did happen:

Hong Jeong Ho: Played 90 minutes in FC Koreaburg’s final game of the season, a loss to  Hamburg SV. They shockingly lost 3-1, but HJH reportedly had a decent game – the fullbacks were playing for the first time this season and his CB partner, Christian Janker, hardly played at all this season either (total of 400 minutes). HJH himself had a nice clearance off the line as well. Koo JC is injured and Ji Dong Won came on late in the game.

Speaking of Hamburg SV, their 21 year old Korean CB Kim Dong Su is currently playing friendlies with the first team. If things go well perhaps we will see him playing in the Bundesliga next year!

Son Heung Min: Started, team started losing 2-0, subbed off at halftime, and the team ended up losing 5-1. It;s quite sad how this team imploded at the end, allowing Arsenal to overtake them to snatch away the 2nd place title. Apparently, it’s been 25 years since Tottenham finished above Arsenal… and apparently this end of the season implosion is quite common for Tottenham (having never followed them, I can’t speak to the validity of this).

Ki Sung Yong is back in Korea (he flew back before the final game of the season). It has been confirmed he will captain both the Spain and Czech Republic matches. Guidolin has said that KSY was injured or something and had to go home early, but the fact that he wasn’t going to stick around for the last game suggests he may be on his way out. Plus, Guidolin is going to stay with Swansea, and it’s evident that KSY is very unhappy with the way Guidolin runs things. As many have suggested, Ki will probably end up wherever Garry Monk ends up (if he does end up anywhere). Another theory that has been thrown around is the fact that Gus Poyet ended up at Real Betis, but for multiple reasons the chances of Ki going to Spain are incredibly slim. Sevilla is a great place but KSY seems set on staying in the UK pretty much his whole European career.

But when it comes to English clubs, I don’t see very many clubs where Ki would fit in. I don’t think he should go to any of the “big” teams like Liverpool/United/City, etc. So the question is, what other EPL team could there be for him, given that he does move? Leave your thoughts below!

Lee Chung Yong came on as a sub in the 78th minute.

Suk Hyun Jun was not even on the bench, and was left out in favor of some random Porto B guys. I TOLD YOU GUYS HE SHOULD”VE STAYED AT VITORIA! Should SHJ move? Y/N?

Other news:

Lee Seung Woo: so it turns out that Juvenil A are absolutely awful right now, they went winless in three games against random teams across Europe and Africa. Here are Lee’s ball touches though: pretty good stuff as usual.

The squad for the U19 Suwon Cup was announced yesterday. I have no idea what happened to Kang Ji Hoon, and Kim Jung Hwan apparently has a hand injury.

France and Japan squads have also been announced and man that France team is incredibly scary even without the presence of O. Dembele who recently signed for Dortmund.

  1. Ki needs either a midfielder partner who does all the harassing or needs a team that plays passing game like Swansea and Arsenal. I would’ve said Everton before Martinez got the sack (totally saw that coming to be honest). I don’t mind him playing for a team that faces relegation every season like Sunderland because it give him a much needed pressure to perform better.

As for LCY, I can’t seem to find the answer for him. Not playing games hindered his career to the point of no return, like Park Chu-Young back when he was an Arsenal player.

As for Suk, I would like to see him move back to Vittoria. There’s no shame going back to former club.

To be honest, LCY and Suk just needs to play in a club where they can play at least 20 games a season whether if they stay in their respective leagues or testing other leagues.
