Koreans playing in Europe this weekend

Game on after transfer window has now closed shut. Here’s a roundup of games to try to catch this weekend:

Satuday September 1 (all times are EST):

Bundesliga

Werder Bremen v Hamburg SV 9:30 am: Heung Min-Son starting at Hamburg. His team just added Rafael Van der Vaart from Tottenham yesterday, though he not expected to start.

FC Shalke 04 v FC Augsburg 9:30 am: Koo Ja Choel, who was lively in the Olympics last month and helped win their first medal for Korea in soccer last month, starts for Augsburg as the club looks for their first win after losing the first match last week.

English Premier League

* Swansea City v Sunderland 10 am: This is one I’m not missing. Ki Sung Yeung should be making his first regular EPL start for Swansea who signed the former Celtic midfielder last week. Potentially he faces off against another fellow teammate from the Olympic team, Ji Dong Won who at the very moment is listed as a substitute for Sunderland.

Manchester City v QPR 12:30pm: Park Ji Sung so far hasn’t seen any wins in the new Premier season with his new team QPR, but we will see if they can be bolstered by new transfer addition Stéphane M’Bia coming over from Marseille yesterday.  Manchester City, though unbeaten, has given up 2 goals in each of their first 2 matches. They have looked vulnerable at times, but their forward firepower is nothing to sniff at.

Championship

Hull City v Bolton 10am: Lee Chung Yong ended staying with Bolton during this transfer window despite rumours of his disenchantment with the relegated Wanderers performance thus far.  Bolton has had a so-so start to their promotion campaign, but on paper looks to have the personel to get back to the Premier next season.

La Liga

Celta Vigo v Osasuna 10 am: Park Chu Young, who seems to be the only player Tavern has focused on (though to be fair, we’ve only had 2 posts since launching this blog earlier this week), doesn’t play since he just arrived in Vigo, but you can get a preview of the kind of team he’s joined up with.

….and tommorrow Sunday Sept 2, Kim Bo Kyung is expected to make his debut for Cardiff v Wolverhampton at 9am .

Alright, good luck Taeguk Warriors abroad. Talk at ya after the games.
