Midweek Listings

Some important midweek battles happening, let’s take a quick glance at Korean Footballers Abroad for the schedule, including the strong possibility of Park Chu-Young seeing action for Watford later today. [TV coverage for US / Time listed in EST US]

Day Time (ET) Player Club Opponent TV
Tuesday 2:45 PM Kim Bo Kyung Cardiff City Aston Villa NBC Extra Time
Tuesday 2:45 PM Park Chu Young Watford Birmingham City None
Tuesday 3:00 PM Lee Chung Yong Bolton Burnley None
Wednesday 1:00 PM Son Heung Min Bayer Leverkusen Kaiserlautern (Cup) None
Wednesday 2:45 PM Ki Sung Yueng Sunderland @Man City NBC Extra Time

Kim Bo-Kyung may be back in the starting lineup for Cardif today, his team still deep in relegation trouble after their derby loss to Swansea over the weekend. On Wednesday, Ki will most likely be in the starting XI for Sunderland for a tough preview of the League Cup final in early March.

Got to get back to work but I did want to mention Jae Chee’s post for kleaguefootball.com -a preview of IPark Busan this season – who are no doubt going to miss Park Jong-Woo, the midfielder transferred to Guangzhou last week.  Can they break into the K-League’s upper echelon -and even qualify for an Asian Champions League spot this year?  Another post at kleaguefootball.com by Will Evan tackles the problem of anemic attendance rates in Korea for Asian Champions League matches – is there a prescription?  And as Jae hinted earlier, I’m editing through a future Tavern podcast to be released on Soundcloud soon. More fun to come, stay tuned…

  1. The current news about what’s happening to our skybet championship players is very frustrating. Hopefully it changes soon.

  2. Side shameless self-promotion, but I also wrote a “distant observers” preview for Suwon Samsung on kleaguefootball.com that’s up now. Anyway, K League fans and those interested in the domestic scene should definitely check the site out (they even have a podcast).
