[Weekend Listings] 12.28.2014 – 12.29.2014

Hey everyone, a short weekend listings from me. The 4 European boys take to the pitch in this hectic winter schedule in England.

I put Canadian listings for the heck of it.

Yun Suk-Young is injured and will not feature for a QPR side taking on Crystal Palace, who fired their manager this week.

Kim Bo-Kyung hasn’t featured despite the hectic winter schedule. Meanwhile, at Cardiff City Stadium, the ongoing feud between Vincent Tan and the supporters continues. After the supporters said they would stage protests all in blue on Boxing Day and the first game in the New Year, Vincent Tan insisted that he would never change the team colors from red to blue. “It was part of the deal”, he said, convinced that when he took over the club and invested 100 million pounds, he earned the right to change the team colors. Paraphrasing – after all, he says, the emblem of Wales is the Red Dragon.

Lee Chung-Yong and Ki Sung-Yueng both played 90 minutes on Boxing Day, and there has to be a question of whether or not they will go a full 90 again under 48 hours of rest.

In other news, Sunderland manager Gus Poyet blasted the FA for the packed winter schedule, and Louis Van Gaal scored his passive-aggressive comment of the week with a “I cannot prepare my players adequately” reply in a press conference when asked about the Boxing Day games. “With FIFA and UEFA’s rules it’s forbidden to play within 48 hours. In England, it’s okay.”

Do you think the hectic Christmas programme makes sense for modern day football in England?

Over in Korea, Cha Du-Ri has agreed to a one-year contract with FC Seoul. Fans of the capital club can heave a deep breath after losing Kim Ju-Young and possibly Ko Myong-Jin to China this transfer window, a similar debacle to last year when they lost star striker Dejan Damjanovic.

The Tavern writers will be recording a podcast in the coming days about the Asian Cup – who are the teams Korea will be facing? How far can the Taeguk Warriors go? Those questions answered and more. Stay tuned and don’t forget to vote in the End of Year awards. Last year, we had over 100 votes for some categories, and this year, we’re hovering around the 40 mark. Get your crazy netizen on for this prestigious award! Happy Holidays and Jalgayo from the TSC.
