What will be the fate of Swansea City

What will be the fate of Swansea City in the next couple of weeks? Will they start winning again or will they be in for a relegation battle? Also who will take over as the new manager?

Another heart-breaking moment for Swansea fans this week as they lost 1-2 against EPL giants Manchester City. The game was especially heart-breaking for Swansea fans as the first goal was scored by their former maestro Wilfred Bony. However, the Swans fought back and scored a goal in the 90th minute thanks to Baetimbi Gomis. You either love or hate Gomis’s panther celebration. Unfortunately, he forgot to do his hallmark celebration this match. I am guessing it was due to time restrictions. I thought the game would’ve ended 1-1 but the EPL giants were able to squeeze a goal through injury time. Way to rub salt into Swansea’s wounds. Two painful moments for Swansea this week, Gary Monk’s departure and a loss to Manchester City thanks to a goal by a former player and a goal in injury time.

As we all heard Swansea’s manager Gary Monk was sacked last week due to Swansea’s poor performance. Swansea fans will be saddened with Gary Monk’s departure as he has contributed many things to the club. Starting as a Swansea player and being named manager of the club. Poor guy, I don’t blame him but Swansea needed a change. Even so, the Swans are on a losing streak as they haven’t won a league game in six matches. They finished a high 8th place last season which was a club record. I thought they were having another great season as they drew against Chelsea in match day one, won against Newcastle United on match day two and won again on match day four against Manchester United.

But the last couple of weeks have been a turmoil at Liberty stadium. They are now at the bottom of the table at 17th. If they don’t step up their game, they will be in a relegation battle with either Sunderland or Aston Villa. Everyone knows Swansea have some marquee players like Jonjo Shelvey, Baetimbi Gomis, Ki Sung-Yueng, Gylfi Sigurdsson etc. But Swansea needs to regroup as something is not working for them. Also with many talented players in the squad they need good results as we know what the Swans are truly capable of. Swansea has to take care of their players as if they don’t produce much results we know a bigger club is going to swoop all the good talents away. As Baetimbi Gomis was attracting much attention by many European giants early in the season.

So the real question, who will be Swansea’s next manager?
By next week at earliest we will know Swansea’s new fate and manager. Many fans want former Swansea and Liverpool manger Brendan Rodgers to manage the club. Will he make a return to Swansea or is it too early for him to return to the EPL? But for now no one has been directly linked with the club. These are pure speculations. Some favourites to take over are former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet, current Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, former Athletic Bilbao and Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa, current Sevilla manager Unai Emery and former Schalke and Chelsea manager Robert Di Matteo.
