Possible Second Korea Friendly in US? *update

It’s far from official, but the South Korea NT wikipedia page has a second friendly in the US listed for January 25. The location is not listed, but the opposition will supposedly be Costa Rica. That would be in addition to the Jan. 29 friendly against Mexico in San Antonio. Don’t know if it’ll happen, but watch this space.

Also, thank you to Tim (Korfan) who brought to my attention that the friendly against Mexico has been confirmed by FIFA (it appears on their website).

Also, in a Korea Herald article, they wrote that the plan is for Korea to go to Brazil in early January for training, and then play three matches in the U.S. at the end of January. So, supposedly that will be Costa Rica, Mexico, and one to-be-named team.

    • totally!!!!! huge Korean population plus we have Rose Bowl, Coliseum, or even Home Depot Center to play in here in LA. I’m definitely going if this comes around to being true! thanks for sharing even if it’s just a rumor!

    • I think the KFA is corrupt and don’t actually care about the NT’s performances. If the KFA really did care about the KNT’s performances and results, they would have fired Choi Kang Hee before June 2013 (end of Asian WCQ) and we would have a foreign coach like Senol Gunes or Marco Bielsa right now.

      • Honestly. Very honestly.

I would almost rather know that it is corrupt than to know this is where we are after an exhaustive effort.

The pace and class that the JFA has outpaced us should be completely unnerving to KFA.

We don’t get asked to major tournaments, we don’t get the class and demand for friendlies that our neighbor is enjoying, and we probably don’t have the class of their youth development programs.

The world view perspective on ROK football, imo, is piss poor relative to what we have managed to accomplish previous to the last 4 to 8 years. We should be doing as well if not better than Nippon.

        • Yes I agree completely. Korea was so far ahead of Japan in football during the entire 20th century but Japan stole the Asia #1 spot in less than a decade in the 21st century.
