[Update] Weekend Roundup 11.28.14 – 11.29.14

The Korean football crew in Europe experienced a solid weekend in terms of results, since it didn’t log many losses, but do check out Jae’s K-League roundup – it’s the finale weekend and you won’t believe the drama that went down! Update: we have Yun’s knee injury status and the Mid East roundup is now up. Check it out below…

But still, the losses that did happen weren’t pretty– Koo Ja Cheol and Park Joo Ho lost by wide margin at the hands of Schalke, and Borussia’s loss this weekend means that they stand at the bottom of the Bundesliga table. See how Jurgen Klopp has responded to speculation that he would resign as manager.

QPR good news: 3-2 win and 3 points earned at Loftus Road means they are a step away from reaching safety. QPR Bad news: Yun suffered a knee injury after challenging Riyad Mahrez right before the half (yellow card for Yun on that challenge. He subbed out at 51’ after trying to stay on the pitch.  We’re not sure exactly the severity of the injury but will update as soon as we find out.  In case you’re wondering, first half performance was fairly decent and was on the pitch when QPR broke the deadlock. He did get a shot off in the 11th minute from a corner kick- but it went high and wide.

On a more optimistic note, here’s Son Heung-Min, like Kim Jin-Su, logged an assist and helped make Josip Drmić’s goal happen:

Tavern Owner interrupting: his first game in forever for Hoffenheim -Kim Jin-Su’s assist was SICK! Great run and incredible vision to find Volland – I imagine this is going to vie for Bundesliga assist of the year, check this out:

Assist of the year?

UPDATE: according to West London Sports, Yun’s knee injury not serious. Whew!

Also here’s your Mid East Roundup from last weekend, I’m on the run but here’s what I got:

[table “” not found /]

Mid East notes: Han Kook-Young scored for Qatar SC in an absolute 7-0 demolition of Al Wakrah. He scored the 2nd goal in the 31st minute and the hits kept on coming.

Some things I did not know previously: Michael Ladrud, after getting sacked by Swansea last season, landed on his feet at Nam Tae-Hee’s club, Lekhwiya.  Other Swansea link, Chico Flores apparently is also at at the club, perhaps persuaded by Ladrup to make the mid east switch.

An ex-Sunderland teammate of Ji Dong-Won, Asamoah Gyan (Ghana captain) plys the trade with Lee Myeong-jo at Al Ain. Gyan is a beast, not sure, other than the pay, why he isn’t playing in Europe.

Tavern Studio New York, logging out.

  1. Sick? Yes. Assist of the year? I’m not so sure about that. It’s good vision, and very well placed, but it’s still just a far post cross. I haven’t seen past winners, but I suspect assist of the year will be some sort of defense-splitting through ball.
