Korea’s top players don’t just play in Europe, there are plenty of Koreans who are either in, or on the edges of, the Korean national team who are playing for Asia’s top clubs. Here are some of the Korean players to look out for in this year’s AFC Champions’ League:
Group B: Nam Tae-Hee (Lekhwiya)
Group C: Kwak Tae-Hwi (Al Hilal); Park Jong-Woo (Al Jazira)
Group D: Lee Myung-Joo (Al Ain)
Group E (Jeonbuk’s group): Han Seung-Yeop (Becamex Binh Duong); Ha Dae-Sung (FC Tokyo)
Group F (Seoul’s group): Go Seul-Ki (Buriram United)
Group G (Suwon’s group): Kim Jung-Ya, Oh Jae-Seok (Gamba Osaka); Kim Ju-Young (Shanghai SIPG)
Group H (Pohang’s group): Kim Young-Gwon (Guangzhou Evergrande)
This year’s AFC Champions’ League kicks off on February 23rd. The opening round sees former FC Seoul captain Ha Dae-Sung return to Korea as FC Tokyo take on Jeonbuk. Meanwhile FC Seoul take on Thai side Buriram United who have former Ulsan player Go Seul-Ki in their midfield. The following day, Suwon Bluewings are at home to Gamba Osaka and Pohang have a tough away trip to Guangzhou Evergrande, who have KNT regular Kim Young-Gwon in their defense.
